Permian Basin Oil Attracts Billion-Dollar Investments
The biggest energy deal in the Permian last year took place in October, when ExxonMobil bought Pioneer Natural Resources for $60 billion worth of stock.
But the deal-making may have reached a turning point last month, when Occidental Petroleum bought privately held CrownRock for around $12 billion .

The rump of the operation was acquired by Colombia Threadneedle with the Bank of Montreal asset management business in 2021.
Melrose was acquired by Ireland’s Petroceltic for £165m in 2012.
Worldview had made a £6m bid to buy Petroceltic amid the fallout from the oil price crash that started in 2014.
